What's your talent?

I'm suppose to be rushing my dissertation by now but because of my brother send us in the family whatapps group chat, it give me inspiration to blog, for a while.

My bro has leave home for few days to participate in some kind of competition or running tournament, those athlete kinda stuff. He do texts us from time to time to update us on how he's been and in this evening, he uploaded a video of him sprinting past the finishing line to our group chat. Saying he break his own record for 100m, he is now able to reach the finishing line in 11 seconds. Alright, he is not the fastest in that group of people, nor anywhere near the legendary sprinter Usain Bolt's 9.58 seconds, but to me, 11 seconds is a figure that I know I would never able to achieve or even smell it.

Usain Bolt with his 9.58 seconds world record

In my family, I think both my dad and my brother can achieve 11 seconds for 100m running but for me, hmmm... how about 15s or 16s? I have no idea about it because I know I am so slow that I don't even care about how long do I need to complete the 100m, haha. I'm never fast ever since I was born, wonder what's wrong with my DNA, how come I can't run :(

People who know me know that I do play football and futsal quite often last time, yea, last time as now everyone seem so busy that I watch more football games on TV than how much I had really play. People always has that perception that, if you play a lot of sport, then you can run really fast, but the fact is, I'm not, I'm nowhere near fast. To be able to survive in the game, I only can force myself to raise my other aspects in the game, the stamina, the passing and all. When you already outrun me, how can I let you to out-pass me? At least I need to last longer than you. If you have the speed, it is a blessing to you, a gift that make you so easy to settle in any kind of sports as if you don't have the skills, at least you have the pace, you can run. Compare with my dad and brother, I'm not so lucky in pace, and it does sometimes make me think what I'm good at.

The funny thing is, I remember when I was 16 or 17, a tuition teacher of mine has said that the gift that the God give me is the talent to bullshit or crap out of nothing. Should I be happy for this? Haha. I definitely know she is joking with me but she wouldn't have said that without any evidence. I have to agree with her somehow, that during my time as a boy scout in secondary school, there's always have some activities going on in the Saturday morning. We, the senior will organize this and that for the young one to improve their skill, but you know, sometimes the gap between this activity to another activity is big or it can be delay due to someone is late or something is not there where we often use the word as "technical problem". So, to solve this 30 or 40 minutes awkward time, I've been asked to go up to the young one and start my story telling until everything behind the scene is done. Is like, there is an empty 20min and we don't not want to release the junior to rest yet, then it will be my time, story telling, sharing experiences and all that kind of nonsense. Haha. Maybe filling up the free time for others is my hidden talent after all.

Me, standing in front and ready for the "talk show"

Is not related to this post, just miss this bunch of people. Scouting is fun :')

So yea, what are you good at? Do you have some special talent or some talent that you dream to have? Like people always say, when God shut this door of yours, he will always let another one open. Don't be sad if your talent is not that awesome or you don't even know what you good at. Keep trying and one day you'll be there :)

Before I go back to my dissertation, I just wanna said, maybe a lot of you my fellow scouts and guides have forgot about yesterday, hope by reading this can help you remember it better next time. 22nd Feb is a day we both celebrate last time, is Founder Day for the scout and Thinking Day for the girl guide. Thanks Sir Baden Powell for giving people like me to have a platform to try, to perform and to learn what we do best.

Terima kasih Tuan .lll.

If you ask me what is this >>>  .lll.
